Residency summed up in a single vignette

I arrived 10 minutes late for the OR on my last day (not counting the call I did on Saturday).

Got changed, put on some clogs and was hurriedly scrubbing. Couldn't rip the soap scrubber wrapper open because my hands were wet, so in my haste I decided to try something I'd seen on TV. I compressed the package between my palms hard. Nothing happened, and then all of a sudden, the package exploded with a loud bang, spraying my shirt with chlorhexidine.

At which point I just had to laugh, finish scrubbing, and then head into surgery with a huge pink splatter across my chest. The nurse gave me a funny look, but nobody said anything.
